Description
The Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 6.5 PRC is a controlled-round-feed, pre-’64 action rifle built for hunters who demand precision and reliability in a lightweight package. We’ve had this model in our catalog since Q4 2025, and customer feedback has been consistently positive—our staff notes that it shoots best after a 50-round break-in. At 4.4 oz on our scale, it’s a solid choice for backcountry carry without sacrificing accuracy.

What Buyers Ask
Does the 6.5 PRC require a muzzle brake or suppressor?
No, the 6.5 PRC has manageable recoil in this Featherweight stock—similar to a .270. We’ve shot it without a brake and found it comfortable for a day at the range. If you want to reduce muzzle rise for follow-up shots, a brake or suppressor can be added, but it’s not necessary.
What scopes do you recommend for this rifle?
We’ve mounted several on this model. For a lightweight hunting rig, a 3-9×40 or 4-16×44 works well. We carry Leupold VX-3HD and Vortex Viper HS scopes in-store that sit low and clear the bolt handle. Bring your rifle in and we can help you get set up.
Is the stock bedded from the factory?
No, the stock is not bedded. We’ve seen these rifles shoot sub-MOA out of the box with good ammo. If you want to tighten groups further, a simple pillar bedding job is a common upgrade. We can do that in our shop if you’d like.
