Description
The Marlin 1895 is a lever-action .45-70 Government rifle built for hunters who need to put down big game at moderate ranges. It’s a straight shooter—literally. We started stocking this in early 2024, and it’s become one of our steady sellers in this category. The action cycles smooth right out of the box, and the deep blue finish is tough. If you’re after a rifle that hits hard and handles rough country, this is it.

Is this the new production Marlin?
Yes. This is the current production from Ruger-owned Marlin, built in Mayfield, Kentucky. The fit and finish are consistent, and the action is much smoother than some of the older Remington-era guns we’ve seen.
Can I mount a scope on this?
Yes, the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope base. The side ejection keeps the spent casings clear of the optic. We recommend a low-mount rings for a solid cheek weld.
What kind of accuracy should I expect?
With factory loads, expect 2-3 inch groups at 100 yards. The .45-70 isn’t a long-range round, but it’ll do what you need inside 200 yards. We’ve had customers take deer cleanly at 150 yards with iron sights.
