Is this the same as the standard A400 Lite?
No. The ‘Direct’ version uses a direct-thread barrel attachment — no magazine cap or barrel clamp — which reduces weight at the muzzle. Tolerances on this model are noticeably tighter than the previous generation, based on what we’ve seen in our shop.
Can I shoot steel shot through it?
Yes. The Steelium Plus barrels and Optima-Bore HP chokes are rated for steel shot. Use the included choke tubes marked for steel (IC, Mod, Full) and you’re good to go for waterfowl.
